Advertisement for the position of Project Coordinator
Working Group for Women and Land Ownership (WGWLO) is an unregistered network of more than 35 NGOs, CBOs and individuals, working on the issue of women’s land ownership and access to productive resources. The secretariat is housed in Janvikas, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Started in 2002, the network has reached out to more than 7000 women in getting their claims on agriculture land in individual or collective capacity. For this, members of the network have taken up studies, conducted awareness programmes, prepared a cadre of Para legal workers, sensitized government officials and have taken up the issue at the state level through policy advocacy. Learning of the network is also taken up to other states.
WGWLO requires a project coordinator to coordinate the network and facilitate the processes and activities of the network, to achieve its goals. The base will be at the secretariat in Ahmadabad. The coordinator should have the following criteria:
Minimum educational qualification: Post graduation in social sciences (can be relaxed if relevant experience is good)
Minimum Experience of working on women’s rights/gender and livelihood issues: 5 years
Languages known: Gujarati essential, good working knowledge-written and spoken- of English
Age: no bar
Computer literacy: should have good proficiency in MS word and Excel
Knowledge and Skills required: women’s issues, networking with CSOs and CBOs, working with government, reporting, managing basic finances. Should be able to spend at least 8 days in the field, mobility should not be an issue:within the state, outside the state.
The coordinator is suppose to work more or less independently, based on overall plan by steering group and will be responsible to the Programme Manger and steering group. Gross salary of Rs.35000/month would be offered
